Join the Same Boat

There are no accurate statistics but it is estimated that 4 per cent of families in the UK and the US include an adoptee, and over 60 per cent of people have personal experience of adoption, in that they themselves, a family member or a close friend was adopted, had adopted a child or had placed a child for adoption. Yet adoption remains a highly secretive world, rarely talked about and charged with controversy and emotion.

The Same Boat is a membership organisation open to all people linked to adoption. The member area of the website provides a safe forum for the sharing of stories and for communicating with people who are in a similar position to your own. We also organise events, which are open to members, which you can read about on the site.

To join, you will be asked to provide us with an e-mail address and fill in an on-line form about yourself – your name or a nickname if you would like to remain anonymous, date of birth, link to adoption and your personal story.

Click here if you would like to join
our adoption community.

When you register with us you will be asked for your details and email address. A confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provide which you will need to read in order to activate your account on thesameboat forum. If you have already activated your account then you can login to the forum by clicking here.
